Responsible
Environmental Management is both an SCA corporate goal
and a reality. We're in business for the long run and
have a commitment to our community and to you the
customer.
An
Engineered System
Overall
SCA has an engineered environmental program in place that
is designed to conserve, reclaim, and recycle resources,
as well as meet or exceed federal and state regulations.
Specifically, SCA has internally engineered, elementally
segregated waste treatment and reclamation systems for each
process chemistry. All production areas are engineered with
spill containment and reclamation systems. We also have
a complete back-up power system so that we can handle any
emergency situation. Proper environmental management requires
complete knowledge and understanding of our processes. The
key to that is the SCA Toxicology Program.

The
Environmental Management Program is not restricted to a
specific facility: SCA and PMI maintain their own engineered
systems. A staff of Environmental Engineers works at each
plant, sharing ideas, data, and information. Each operation
has in place extensive education and training programs designed
to keep SCA/PMI personnel completely updated on methods
and systems being developed around the world. Nothing is
left to doubt or trial and error. Our commitment is very
straightforward: The cleaner, the better - for everyone.
Toxicology
The Key to Effective Management
The
SCA Toxicology program represents a step into the future
of Environmental Management. This program gives SCA a critical
R&D tool that allows us not only to effectively treat
current waste but also to conduct research on better, more
effective methods of treatment, conservation, reclamation
and recycling. The ultimate goal of the SCA Toxicology Program
is zero discharge.
